Useful?

After completing the questionnaire and finding participants, I looked at some of the everyday strategies commonly recommended for people with ADHD before formally starting my interventions.

Many of these strategies seem quite simple: setting alarms, using timers, making to-do lists, breaking tasks into smaller steps, or following a structured working routine.

Research on compensatory behaviours in adults with ADHD shows that people use different strategies to manage ADHD-related difficulties in everyday life, and the perceived effectiveness of these strategies can vary between individuals (Li et al., 2024).

So I started to wonder: What actually happens when these seemingly useful strategies are applied in someone’s everyday life? Do they really work for adults with ADHD?

Many ADHD‑ers express similar disagreement with the idea of “reward yourself once you finish the task”.
