task initiation

At July, I kept thinking that I needed to create something big. A platform. A community for ADHD. Recently, my research has almost moved in the opposite direction.

As my research developed, I increasingly realised that the difficulties ADHDers experience in everyday life can be similar, but not exactly the same. Some people struggle to start studying, while others struggle to leave home on time. Even when the problems appear similar, the point where each person gets “stuck” can be different. One common difficulty is task initiation.

This made me pay more attention to task initiation — the difficulty of moving from “I know I need to do this” to actually starting the action. Existing research also links initiation to executive functioning, an area in which adults with ADHD can experience difficulties (Ginapp et al., 2022).

So, rather than looking for one method that could solve every ADHD-related problem, I now want to focus more closely on these small moments of action in everyday
